Dr. Cristina D’Alessandro is a Senior Fellow at the Centre on Governance of the University of Ottawa (Canada) and a Professor at the Paris School of International Affairs (Sciences-Po, Paris, France).
Previously she served as a Knowledge Expert at the African Capacity Building Foundation in Harare (Zimbabwe) and as a professor at the University Lumière Lyon 2. She holds a number of board positions: Advisory Board Member for the Qatar National Priority Research Program NPRP 6-1272-5-160 “Governance of Natural Resources in Africa”; member of the InternationalAdvisory Board of the Canadian Journal of Development Studies; member of the editorial board of the journal L’Espace politique; member of the Scientific Board of the journal EspacesTemps.net.
Dr. D’Alessandro holds: a post-doctorate from the West Virginia University (West Virginia, USA); a Masters and a PhD in geography from the University François-Rabelais de Tours (France); and a bachelor of geography from the University of L’Aquila (Italy).
She is well published in French, English, and Italian with a series of books and papers. As an international scholar with experience in three continents (Africa, Europe, America),she also serves as an advisor and expert for international organizations and institutions.
Her teaching, research and publication activity focuses: on urban planning, management and transformation; regional integration and regionalisms; natural resource governance; political, economic and territorial governance; institutional capacity building; and leadership.
